The Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) is Uganda‘s most visited national park. The national park is located in western Uganda, spanning the districts of KaseseKamwengeBushenyi, and Rukungiri. Its location is approximately 376 kilometres (234 mi), by road, southwest of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is known for its wildlife, including hippopotami, elephants, African leopards, Congo lions, and chimpanzees. It is home to 95 species of mammal and over 500 species of birds. The area around Ishasha in Rukungiri District is famous for its tree-climbing lions, whose males sport black manes.

The Queen Elizabeth National Park is also famous for its volcanic features, including volcanic cones and deep craters, many with crater lakes, such as the Katwe craters, from which salt is extracted.

The Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) includes the Maramagambo Forest and borders the Kigezi Game Reserve, the Kyambura Game Reserve, and the Kibale National Park in Uganda, and the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.


With sporadic location in the Western Arm of the Great East African Rift valley, the park extends its horizons to the foothills of magnificent scenery of Mt Rwenzori in the North to Ishasha sector southwards famous for rare tree climbing lions.

Infact, the park is a treasure, a rich habitat of savanna, equatorial rainforests, papyrus swamps, creators, baboon’s cliff, kyambura gorge Kazinga channel, Lake Edward and Lake George, teeming with animals and birds.

A Launch cruise, morning and late evening game drives provides visitors easy game viewing drives with Buffalo, Elephant, waterbucks, mongoose, warthogs, lions and several species if birds. Kyambura gorge offers lifetime experience to trek chimps and other primates while the creator region and baboon cliff makes visitors see the real taste of wonders of nature. Mweya safari lodge adjacent to Kazinga channel and Jacana safari lodge beneath spectacular Maramagambo forest scenery offer the best accommodation with hospitable staff.

Tour Plan

The Safari begins from Kampala/ Entebbe. Our guide picks you at 7:30 am from your hotel or residence, drives to Mbarara westwards via Masaka. Make the first stop over at Equator crossing for snacks and photography. Lunch break is made at Mbarara.

After lunch, a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park enables visitors to enjoy beautiful scenery, herds of long horned Ankole cattle, and tea plantations in Ishasha, Rift valley escarpment, open grassland and woodland savanna. Evening game drive for sight seeing is much more rewarding.

Dinner and overnight at lodge or institute of ecology bandas.

Begin your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile makes visitors encounter elephants, buffalo, waterbucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs lakes and a variety of birds. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, a two hour boat trip along the famous Kazinga channel is worthwhile an opportunity to see Hippo, Buffalo, Kobs, Elephants, warthogs etc. This trip also enables visitors a chance to see spectacular birds. Dinner & overnight at Lodge.

After breakfast you drive via the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Go for the game drive in the open savannah covered by acacias trees on the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley. You will search for the tree-climbing lions, a population which is only found in this part of the country. It is impressive to see the animals while they are resting on top of the fig trees. Have lunch en route.

In the afternoon proceed to Lodge or Hostel for dinner and overnight. FB

With previous days memories, enjoy your breakfast ready for guided primate walk along Kyambura Gorge to look for chimps through the gorge. After primate walk, drive to Mbarara for lunch. Return to Kampala at your own convenience where you will be
